Musical beds is this exciting game we like to play at our house starting at around 1ish each night. Max wakes up and makes his way to our room and sleeps right in the middle of Will and me. Then at some point probably around 3 or 4 Jack makes his way into our room too. Some nights I sleep through both of them coming into our room and falling asleep beside me. But usually around 4ish to 5ish I wake up in a crazy position. Maybe both of the arms are asleep because they are over my head and all the blood has rushed out of them or maybe both boys have snuggled up to me and I am stuck on my side and can't move. Don't think it is just me who sometimes suffers. Will usually gets pushed right off his side of the bed. So then the game begins. Sometimes I wake up and decide to make the move. I usually go to Jack's bed because I like it better. Will always chooses Max's bed if he wakes up hanging on to the edge and makes the move. Sometimes we both at different times make the move and go to whichever bed the other one isn't in that night and leave both boys in our bed. There are some nights that we wake up in our bed with no little ones at all. And even some nights, I move to Jack's bed and wake up the next morning and discover that one or even both of them sought me out again and are in his bed too. Every night is a new adventure.
Now I know there are tons of you that ask, "Why don't we make them stay in their own beds and stop this silly game once and for all?" All I can say is on those rare occasions where we are all curled up together (yeah all of us on a queen size bed) it's heaven. To feel my sweet boys sleeping soundly snuggled up to me is the greatest peace I have ever felt. It's a love/hate relationship. I love to hear them laugh in their sleep (Will included ha ha) and think about what in the world they are dreaming. I love that they sleep the best with us in our bed. And I know that it won't be long before this little game of ours is over. I don't know many 12 year olds that want to sleep in their Mom's bed. I know I will look back and miss our crazy little routine.
If any of you would like to make a donation to the upgrade to the king size bed, we so desperately need feel free to contact me. ha ha just kidding As these boys continue to grow, that is an investment we will have to make in the next few months, but until then the game resumes.
