Thursday night around 7ish we decided to head on down to Birmingham for the weekend. We knew Sam would fall asleep pretty quickly and we might lose a few big boys too on the way. We booked a hotel room in Gardendale on our way down-we are crazy, spontaneous that way and enjoyed the quiet drive. All the boys were asleep by the time we got there and the big boys went right back to sleep in the room. Wild man Sam woke up and stayed awake until like 11 which he never does but Will and I both agreed that it was nice to have some quiet time with just him. The boys were so funny when they woke up Friday morning because they didn't know where we were. We have been looking at different houses to buy and Max asked if our hotel room was our new house. ha ha You really forget how much fun it is as a kid to go on a trip. Just staying in a hotel is so much fun!! After a big breakfast at Crackel Barrel we headed to the McWane Center for some science fun. I didn't mention that when we pulled up there were 6 tour buses there full of kids!! Great choice...Mom! ha ha We met my Dad and sister with her boys there for the morning. My boys had a blast!! It was really fun!!

We left there around lunch because Will had gotten us tickets to the Indy race that afternoon. Our boys are totally into Cars 2 right now and they love talking about races and cars, so they were really excited. Friday wasn't the big race but the trials and we knew that would be good for them. We had a great time and the boys got to see real race cars and sit in them and play in the kid zone. It was a lot of fun!! We totally got soaked when the rain came in but we made it back to the car and dried out. Right outside the race track was a Bass Pro Shop aka Heaven to lil boys and big boys too, so we spent a few hours in there. Will's parents came down and met us at the track which was so helpful with all our lil ones. We stayed the night at my Dad's house and enjoyed spending time with them.
Nana and Jack checking out some race cars!
With his earphones on! heh heh
Saturday, we headed out to the zoo. Jack loved reading the map and telling us where to go and what animals we were able to see. Last time we were there Max was too young to go on the camel ride and Jack was so excited for him because he could go this time. Isn't that sweet!! Sam enjoyed watching all the people as much as the animals! We rode on the train and ate yummy snacks and made a day of it. After we left the zoo, we met up with Will's best friend and family and then headed home. It was a good end to a very stressful week!!
My WILD ANIMALS!!
Riding the train!
Max loved waving at everyone we passed!
