God has to have an amazing sense of humor

I have said that so many times in my life. I know God must have an amazing sense of humor. Here is a prime example...

About a week ago, I was able to do something that I have been thinking/wanting to do for a LONG time. I read a blog called Bring the Rain and the author Angie wrote a while back ago about servicing other people and showing God in everyday life. She wrote that her family puts a cooler of cokes out for her garbage truck drivers during the hot summer to show them they appreciate them. She talked about the little things that can impact people even strangers' lives. Well, since I read that entry on her blog I had something in mind that I have wanted to do for someone, but the opportunity hasn't opened itself up until this past week.

Before I go any further, I am not posting this for anyone to tell me what a good job I did or anything like that. So please don't use this for that. I pray you will see something in your life that you could do for someone else like I did when I read Angie's post.

So, back to the story at hand. Jack & I made a run to Walmart later than usual last week. In fact, we had been on a small road trip with one of my great friends to visit another great friend and her mother at a nearby hospital. Will had called and said we needed milk(We always need milk.) so we stopped on our way home. While we were there, I figured it would be a great chance to pick up the week's groceries since I had time. You know in Walmart you seem to pass the same people down each aisle. We kept running into this sweet family with 4 very small children. The 2 older boys were close to Jack's age and they were extremely friendly and minded their parents very well. I could tell they were buying only the necessities and they were strictly following a list. It just so happened that Jack & I got behind them in line to check out. For some reason, the mom's card was worn and won't scan and the cashier was having trouble reading all the numbers on the card and I felt that was what I had been waiting for...(I am literally shaking writing this that is how I felt in the moment.) I asked this family I had NEVER meet if I could pay for their groceries.

The mom looked at me like I was crazy(if she ONLY knew what was coming next!!). She asked if I was serious, and of course I was but I know my face looked a little shocked too. Once she finally agreed to letting me, I reached into my purse and realized I LEFT MY DEBIT CARD IN THE CAR!!!!! I had maybe a buck fifty on me! ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!

So, now I have asked to pay for their groceries but I needed to run to my car FIRST!! Can you believe how EMBARRASSED I was! Oh my goodness! The cashier said she wouldn't let them pay so Jack & I RAN to the car and RAN back in flashing that I DID actually have something to pay with!!

Like I said, God has to have an amazing sense of humor. Really, what's the chances!!!

But with all that being said, that has been a wonderful moment in my life. The love I felt for them and how great I felt is something that I treasure. I hope it's not the only opportunity I will get to do that because it was really special to me, but I will make sure before I open my mouth that I have the funds to back it up.

Amanda,
You seized an opportunity that God had placed before you and truly helped someone in need. That is great! You showed Jesus to people and that is what we are all supposed to be doing! Loved the story!

Amanda,
All I can say is WOW! Thank you so much for sharing this story as I too need to be seeking opportunities where I can show God's love to others. I'm so honored to be your friend because your actions and your loving heart are such a great example to me!

But on another note... that's hilarious that your card was in the car! :)

Kindness like that only comes from the Lord. We are not capable of being that selfless. So thankful for your friendship and your eagerness to follow your Savior! Love you!
