A lil while ago, back in February Will and I along with some of our Yellowhammer Family went on an amazing trip to the Bahamas via Royal Carribean. It was tough leaving my sweet lil boys behind and not being able to talk to them everyday, but I did enjoy some time away with my first love. We flew out of Huntsville to Miami with a short detour through Atlanta. It was a scream watching a few of our team flying for the 1st time. We arrived in Miami to beautiful 80s degree weather and palm trees. We boarded our ship, Majesty of the Seas and enjoyed all the music and fun on the top deck as we headed out!! We had an amazing room with a king size bed and a large window overlooking the ocean. Our first port of call was to Nassau, Bahamas. We took a tour of the city by van with our amazing guide Bernard. We toured a real life fort, we walked around the beautiful resort Atlantis, and we got wild and crazy and took Bernard with us to lunch to try authentic Nassau food. He suggested we all try the conch (the fish that lives inside those huge seashells). Well, I know better than to try something completely new when I'm super hungry so I didn't order it, but most of our group did. I must say that Bernard was the only one at that lunch who enjoyed it. ha ha It was like chewing rubber. I mean, I like calamari and most people think its chewy, but this was super chewy. It was an ongoing joke the rest of the trip about who was getting the conch at every meal. At night on the ship, we enjoyed all kinds of wonderful meals. We went to the more formal dinner each night and it was fun to get all dressed up. It became a contest between the guys about how many entrees they could eat. I believe Tim Lewter could out eat anyone anywhere. ha ha The second day we went to Cococay Beach which is Royal Carribean's private island. It was AWESOME!!! The water was a little too chilly for me, but the rest of the crew enjoyed snorkeling and swimming. I enjoyed sleeping...and I mean on a beach chair listening to the ocean and sleeping. It's amazing how sleepy you become when all your kids are taken care of and all you have to worry about for a while is yourself. I figured out that I must have been super tired. We enjoyed an all you can eat buffet for lunch and then it was back to sleeping for me. ha ha Our last port was to Key West, Florida. I loved it there. We enjoyed a trolley tour of the island and took a tour of the shipwreck treasure museum. It was so interesting. We enjoyed lunch at one of the local restaurants and then enjoyed the rest of the afternoon catching some rays back on deck. It was a wonderful trip with my husband and our Yellowhammer family. I can't wait for the next Yellowhammer Trip to Jamaica next year!!!
