Tonight as I was getting dressed after a shower I started thinking about that ole faithful tshirt. You know the one...the one that you choose directly out of the dryer, the one that you really can't wear out anymore but you want to sooo bad b/c it is so comfy, the one that could tell great stories about you (I didn't say bad or good), the one that you should have thrown away already but if you did you might forget the great memories you have in it. I know it's just a tshirt but I get sentimental about these things.
My ole faithful is from my sorority days. It used to be bright red now almost a rosy pink. I counted 6 small holes in the front, both armpits have air holes and a medium size hole next to the pocket on the front. This shirt holds a special place in my heart b/c it was the first tshirt I outgrew in both my pregnancies and the first one I wanted when my babies were born.
It's from one of our Fall events Guess Who's Coming to Dinner which was one of my favorites. We had a picnic type dinner with just us and all the fraternities/male athletes from UNA. The ratio was pretty good back that night...It was fun to introduce all the fellas to our newest members and a great way to hang out and listen to some music.
Back to the shirt..Will told me a few years ago that if my shirt had a date on it and it was older than 2 years old I probably shouldn't wear it out anymore, but I can't let them go. I have a huge tub of tshirts upstairs waiting to be made into a quilt but I kept out my favorites and now they are starting to wear out. I remember in college when we would go to the gym and there were the OLD sorority girls wearing their shirts from when I was in middle school. I even remember saying I will SO not do that when I am their age...yeah, well I wasn't that bright in those days anyways. ha ha
This blog post is dedicated to all the tshirts of yesterday that we either had to give up or still trying to hang on to. Say a quick prayer for mine b/c it will have to completely fall apart before I am willing to let it go.

Oh yes! I still wear my old Phi Mu shirt from some date party that is green and has a little man on the back that says Do you feel lucky? *ha* it has air holes all in it and I wear it all the time. My friend told me to use it for a dusting rag but I just can't do it!!!
Girl I hear you!!! Thankfully I had most of mine made into a quilt but I have a few I can't give up either. I finally gave a few to goodwill from 1996&97 because I WAS that old alum at the gym still wearing phi my shirts :)
I have that exact same red shirt and I wear it all the time! I have a HUGE STACK of them, and Camron always says to me "you aren't in college anymore, why do you wear those shirts?" I am a 27 year old mom and I even wear those out in public still! My bid day shirt from 1999 has a bleach stain on it...but I only wear that one around the house. Every girl from Phi My that reads this blog is going to leave a comment saying the same thing! I miss those good old days!
I know exactly what you mean. The older and more washed the better. And all the air holes just add character. I look at all the shirts and think how much money I paid out for all these silly things. Wearing them now is definitely a guilty pleasure:-)
Okay, so I quit sorority and i still wear my shirts!!! I think it makes me feel like I am young again! Sometimes you need that in life!!
